Jasmine Garcia
Jasmine S. Garcia is a 2004 alumna of West Liberty State College (now West Liberty University). Jasmine, graduating summa cum laude, received a B.S. in Communications with specializations in broadcasting and journalism from WLSC. As a student, she worked in campus television, as the station manager of WGLZ, and a staff writer for The Trumpet. She received a master’s degree in Journalism & Media Studies from University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2006. Garcia taught as a part-time instructor at UNLV in television production before returning to West Liberty University in the fall of 2009.
Jasmine was awarded an Emmy by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences on Sat., June 13, 2009 in San Diego, Calif. She received the Emmy nomination in April for her work as technical director on the show Speedway Saturday Night at KVVU-TV in Las Vegas. The purpose of the Emmy Awards is to recognize outstanding achievements in television. The judging included all television stations, cable companies, and production companies in the Pacific Southwest region of the NATAS, which includes San Diego, Bakersfield, Palm Springs, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Santa Maria, Calif., and Las Vegas, Nev.
